Challenge
Replace outdated roofs using a tile that could replicate the original look
Solution
Double Roman in Peat Brown
Location
Dubbers, Isle of Wight
Main Contractor
Chas Berger

Background
Main contractor Chas Berger and specialist roofing contractor Ashton Roofing were appointed to reroof 26 bungalows on the Isle of Wight for one of the UK’s largest housing associations, Southern Housing.
The planned upgrades originally only included windows, doors, and fascias, but the old clay tiles of the bungalows required periodic repairs due to water ingress. As a result, the decision was made to include the roofs, requiring a prompt survey of the properties to finalise the specification and ensure the required materials would be available.
Russell Roof Tiles manufactured and supplied its Double Roman tiles in Peat Brown to achieve an authentic roof finish and ensure the design complemented the surrounding area. The use of the manufacturer’s full roof solution, including tiles, dry fix, underlay, and accessories, installed in accordance with the provided guidance, meant that the development is covered by the Russell Roof Tiles RussSpec 15-Year Guarantee, providing them with peace of mind in case of unexpected failures.
