Coral Takes to the Skies for Charity Skydive

Local lady Coral Hayward has once again shown her unwavering commitment to good causes by completing a 10,000 ft tandem skydive, as part of a team effort to raise £10,000 for Russell Roof Tiles Give4Good charity initiative.

Give4Good is part of the roof tile manufacturer’s Neighbourhood and Community Investment Programme, which aims to raise cash for a number of good causes including Shropshire & Staffordshire Blood Bikes, Burton MIND, YMCA Burton, The Young Ones Burton and Burton Soup Kitchen.

With a huge £40,000 target set at the start of the year, Coral and 14 other volunteers stepped forward to take on the skydiving challenge.  The team, which is made up of Russell Roof Tiles employees and family were all hoping to skydive together at Tilstock Airfield in Shropshire, but severe weather hampered their plan.

With the support of her husband, Andrew Hayward (Managing Director of the company), Coral was the first to take to the skies and tick skydiving off her bucket list.

However, Coral’s commitment to supporting charities doesn’t end with the skydive. In previous years, she has taken on equally inspiring challenges, including paddleboarding the equivalent distance between Russell Roof Tiles Burton and Lochmaben sites and conquering the 73-mile-long, Hadrian’s Wall.

Coral said: “For me, it is never about the challenge, it’s about making a difference. I simply want to raise awareness and help charities that support people in need. The team at Russell Roof Tiles do an exceptional job of getting involved and fundraising. From the skydive alone, we’ve managed to collectively raise £10,000.”

As well as fundraising, Coral volunteers her time bi-weekly to support the outreach team at Burton`s YMCA, providing people who find themselves homeless with a supportive and safe environment while they are rehoused.

Coral’s fundraising efforts and personal involvement are not only providing crucial financial support to charities in need but also inspiring others to get involved.”

Andrew commented: “Coral is a shining example of what can be achieved when you put your mind to it, and I am really proud of her commitment which is a real testament to her selflessness and compassion.”

The husband and wife duo and the rest of the company  are no strangers to hosting fundraisers, ensuring Russell Roof Tiles’ calendar is dotted with charity events throughout the year to raise funds for Give4Good.

The most recent was a family fun day, held at the company’s site on Nicolson Way. Over 150 people attended, raising £5,800 from the various games, activities and food stalls set out by the team.

Next in the calendar is their annual golf day and Big Quiz event which will be held at the Pirelli Stadium in November.

Since 2015, Russell Roof Tiles has supported over 35 different charities and causes local to its Burton and Lochmaben sites. It has hosted more than 40 fundraising events, which has seen staff dance, hike, run, cook, and even slim their way to raise money.

Russell Roof Tiles is a leading independent pitched roof tile manufacturer supplying products for the top housebuilders and high-profile social housing and commercial projects.  The company produces thousands of tiles every week that are used on roofs across the country, by premier housebuilders and developers.
