Daniel Hancox
Meet Dan Hancox – Dan joined Russell Roof Tiles at 18 straight from sixth form and hasn’t looked back. He said Russell Roof Tiles was the perfect fit for him.

From the start of Dan’s career Russell Roof Tiles has contributed heavily to his training and development. Dan started in administration and then progressed into a management trainee position which included a funded Business Management Degree and time off to attend university lectures. Further training has also included an auditing course and a health and safety qualification.

Dan successfully climbed the career ladder and was promoted to Business Support Manager in 2018. He says: “The best thing for me about working here is the people, the size of the business and the type of work we get involved in.  Everybody works well as a team and over my time here I have definitely made friends for life. 

“Because of the size of the business you get to know a lot of the people you work with and also get involved in a variety of projects around different business areas, which keeps things interesting, and you can really see the impact of your decisions on business performance which is great.”

Jade Hugill

Say hello to Jade Hugill – Jade joined Russell Roof Tiles in 2019 as a Business Support Administrator. She joined after completing a master’s degree at Sheffield Hallam University and gaining administration experience at Conkers, the award-winning family attraction.

Jade works closely with Daniel Hancox, Business Support Manager at Russell Roof Tiles and since joining has shadowed members of the senior management team to get a hands-on approach into how the business operates and has spent time working in different departments to develop greater insight.

Over the past two years Jade has completed several specialist training courses to develop skills in production and administration.

Jade says she wanted a job in a company where she could see potential to develop on her current skills and where the work would be varied. She comments: “In my role I am learning continuously on the job completing a variety of tasks and projects. There is always something to get stuck into and projects I can take ownership for.

“People in the business really pull together as a team and this has been especially evident since Covid-19 where we have all pitched in, helping one and other in other roles to ensure the job gets done.”

Otto Mathiesen

Say hello to Otto – Otto joined Russell Roof Tiles as an Apprentice Maintenance Engineer in 2010 with no previous experience in manufacturing or engineering. He hasn’t looked back and since then has worked his way up the ranks and is now Maintenance Manager at one of Russell Roof Tiles sites in Burton on Trent.

During his time at Russell Roof Tiles Otto has completed a number of qualifications including a NVQ Level 3 in Multi-Skill Engineering and a BTEC Level 3 in Electrical Maintenance Engineering. Otto also recently completed and passed an ILM (Institute of Leadership & Management) Level 3 Team Leader qualification with a Distinction grade.

He is now responsible for a number of key areas in the business including stores management, budget control, risk assessments and the management of the maintenance team.

Otto says the best thing about working for Russell Roof Tiles is being part of a hardworking, determined manufacturing team that doesn’t back down from a challenge.

Agnieszka Oleksa

Meet Aggie – Aggie started her adventure with Russell Roof Tiles in 2020 as a Production Administrator. She was looking for a new challenge to develop her career and says Russell Roof Tiles presented a unique opportunity to gain invaluable experience at a company that is conscious about its environmental impact.

Aggie says the firm’s culture drew her in initially as it reflects her own. She continues: “It’s extremely important for me to work in a company which is aware of its influence on the local environment and the local community, and it is particularly satisfying to have my own contribution in this.”

 

 

 

Kirby Charlesworth

Say hello to Kirby – Kirby joined Russell Roof Tiles as an Operational Support Trainee in 2017 after graduating from the University of Hull with a degree in Geography. Since then he has undertaken both a SIKA Concrete Technology Beginner and an Intermediate course and the IOSH Managing Safely course.

Kirby says Russell Roof Tiles provided a unique opportunity of working within a fast-paced production environment within a leading company in the manufacturing sector. He is responsible for ensuring each product meets Russell Roof Tiles high manufacturing standards and the British Roofing Guidelines. He also works closely with other operators to help improve their knowledge and understanding of the company’s products.

He adds: “Throughout my time at Russell Roof Tiles, there has been a great deal of opportunity for development and progression within the organisation. The management team within the organisation have helped me develop my skills and understanding of the business to allow for development within myself.

“I have managed to build my skillset thanks to the many amazing members of staff that have guided and supported me throughout my journey with this organisation.”
