Record Year for Roofing Manufacturer

Leading roof tile manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles has launched a major recruitment drive for what it is expecting will be a record year for the business.

Russell Roof Tiles, based in Burton upon Trent and Lochmaben, is predicting 2021 will be its best year ever.

This is due to massive market growth as well as the company’s post Covid strategy, which saw the firm resume manufacturing in a fully Covid-compliant manner, before any of its competitors.

This growth is despite the fact that the construction industry is still experiencing huge materials shortages due to global demand for many materials, due to pent up demand because of lockdowns in 2020, as well as the supply chain output hit by the pandemic.

RRT’s dynamic response to Covid-19 meant that the company started 2021 with a strong order book, allowing it to invest in all of its sites, with new equipment and machinery to improve efficiencies.  The firm now needs new recruits to help it continue to meet demand.

Andrew Hayward, Managing Director at Russell Roof Tiles comments “We are certainly Building Back Better, with a predicted increase in turnover of 40 per cent year on year.  2021 will be an exceptional year for the business, so, we have created two extra shifts to help meet demand.  What we now need are new recruits to join our great team to help us to continue to grow.”

Despite ceasing production when the first national lockdown was announced in March 2020, the business was quickly able to restart production at all of its three sites in May last year.  This meant that Russell Roof Tiles has been able to maintain good lead times and fulfil a growing order book, as construction bounced back.

The company is recruiting for mechanical engineers and operators for its Burton sites as well as forklift truck drivers and is also taking on apprentices to nurture youngsters to start a career in manufacturing.

Russell Roof Tiles has won Employ of the Year, Manufacturer of the Year and also supports many local community initiatives as well as being a sponsor of Burton Albion Football Club.
