One of the senior managers at pitched roof tile manufacturer Russell Roof Tiles is celebrating a major milestone
After he first joined as a Graduate Trainee Manager, Alan Young (40) Regional Sales Director – based at Russell Roof Tiles Lochmaben site, is now celebrating 15 years with the firm.
Russell Roof Tiles is a leading independent roof tile manufacturer providing products for leading UK house builders and high-profile social housing and commercial projects, where sustainability and eco-credentials are of the utmost priority. It employs 160 people at its two sites in Burton and a further site in Lochmaben.
Over the years Alan’s roles have included Sales Executive in the North West, Area Manager Role for Scotland and North East England, he then became Regional Sales Manager for Scotland and North England, before finally being promoted to Regional Sales Director for the same region in 2016.
There have been many changes in the sector since Alan first joined, including the down turn which had a huge impact including talent leave the industry. But there have been many product innovations too.
Product and market developments has seen a greater focus on Roofing Systems, Dry Fix Products and Thinner Leading Edge Products.
Technology has also evolved, with IT taking great steps forward across manufacturing and construction. Russell Roof Tiles itself is moving to more become even more customer focussed with systems such as its online fixing spec tools. Processes have also changed dramatically, with a need to meet ISO Standards and improve business processes to meet with customer requirements.
Reflecting on the past 15 years, Alan comments “The people at Russell Roof Tiles are what makes the business. Everyone works as a team. Everyone works hard, but it is rewarding – not just monetary, also recognition where it is due and good to see results from that hard work too.”
In recognition of his long service Alan was presented with an award by Andrew Hayward.
