A courageous team of seven from Russell Roof Tiles recently took their charitable efforts to new heights by embarking on a 10,000 ft tandem skydive.
The Halleaths company, which employs a team of 50, is raising money this year for various local charities as part of its Give4Good community programme.
The daring participants from various departments within the business, embraced the challenge, setting their sights on the skies with a shared goal: to raise funds towards the initiative.
Give4Good is part of the roof tile manufacturer’s Neighbourhood and Community Investment Programme, which aims to raise cash for 10 charities and good causes locally including Veterans Garden Dumfries, D&G Canine Rescue, The First Base Agency, Lockerbie Wildlife Trust, and Moffat Mountain Rescue Team – all of which were nominated by the staff.
Ian Jones, Liam Cameron, Adam Clark, Robert Thomsen, Aaron Dowling, Riley Irving and Rafal Ptak from Russell Roof Tiles, made a 360-mile round trip to Tilstock Airfield in Shropshire, ready to take the jump.
Andrew Hayward, Managing Director at Russell Roof Tiles, said: “We are so proud of the team for taking on the challenge, putting in the time and effort all while fundraising for our selected charities. We believe in going above and beyond, not only in our business but also in our efforts to support our community and it was fantastic to see our Lochmaben team getting involved.”
After taking the 10,000 ft jump, the team touched down one by one and celebrated not only their personal triumph but also the £4,000 total they raised.
Ian Jones, Works Manager at Russell Roof Tiles, commented: “The skydive was incredible, and the consensus from everyone who jumped was that it was a totally amazing feeling. We’d do it all again in a heartbeat, not only was it a once in a lifetime experience but we’re really proud to have raised £4,000 towards our Give4Good initiative.”
Already, the roof tile manufacturer, has raised £42,000 surpassing its initial £40,000 target, with more events still to come.
Russell Roof Tiles originally set up its Give4Good neighbourhood and community initiative in January 2022 and the team of 150 have taken part in 10 company-led events and spent over 500 hours volunteering and fundraising.
